Heating: Heating is controlled by the thermostat downstairs to the right of the high kitchen table. When arriving, it will be set to 58 degrees. Press "Run" to have it automatically set to a schedule. You can adjust the temperature up or down from here. Note that the upstairs can get much warmer than downstairs. We recommend closing the bedroom doors upstairs while running the heat - with the windows a crack open.
Cooling: The house has no air-conditioning - BUT the house stays very cool during the summer (mid 60's if the windows remain shut!) - and Salida nights are almost always cool, so a few open windows will do the trick! If the upstairs gets a little warm in the hottest summer months, we recommend turning the thermostat down to 60 degrees (as a precaution), and then selecting to turn to the "Fan" on position from "Auto" so that the cool air from downstairs changes more frequently with the upstairs.
